Experience underwater adventure with our Introductory Scuba course! No need for a scuba certification or prior experience to dive in Maui—you’ll learn some practical skills after a thorough briefing before an underwater tour.
Lessons only take a few hours, which includes 30-40 minutes underwater.
After the short class, you’ll dive under the direct supervision of a PADI instructor from the shore, not from a boat. Kids can dive with their family or alone with an instructor.

What To Expect
Our scuba for beginners’ course is your ticket to underwater adventure with amazing features and benefits
- Meet up at 7 am for a safety briefing and gearing up.
- All equipment included, but you need to know how to swim
- Dive with PAD, SDI, SSI, NAUI-certified instructors in warm, shallow ocean waters
- You can do the Intro dive and the shark/turtle/wreck drive.
- Professional photography, GO Pro rental available
- Premium complimentary diving equipment, sunscreen, and towels.
- A short walk into the water and do a shallow safe dive for 30-40 minute average bottom time

The Perfect Diving Experience for Beginners
Our course teaches environmental conservation and the importance of protecting marine life. We require all participants to pick any plastics, netting, and other trash on the reef as they dive—even the smallest act enhances the ocean’s wellness.

What You Will be Taught in the Class
In the Intro Scuba course, you’ll learn about pressure and altitude, hand signals, equalizing pressure in your ears, how the equipment works (and how to use it), clearing water out of your mask, locating your regulator (and clearing water from it), and much more. We’ll start the lesson on land in Kaanapali and then proceed to the surface of shallow water.
*You must know how to swim to participate; we only teach scuba diving for first-timers, not swimming lessons.
Times and Duration: Daily at 7 am, 4-6 hours.
Age Requirements & Restrictions to Dive
The minimum age requirement for children to scuba dive in Maui is 12.
The kids dive under the direct supervision of a certified scuba instructor.
We may allow 10 to 11-year-olds at our discretion, but you must first sign them up for a private Intro Scuba session for their safety.

Important! Safety Rules & Regulations
All participants must complete the medical release form and the Discover Scuba Diving Maui Intro to Scuba questionnaire.
You may require a doctor’s release to participate in the Intro Dive Program.
Don’t fly or visit high altitudes immediately after diving; plan to fly after an 18-hour interval.
Each participant must speak and understand English! For your safety, we cannot have a translator
